Jervis Bay Territory—Review of future service delivery arrangements
Jervis Bay Territory residents deserve quality services that are efficient and simple to access, and to participate in the governance of the Territory. The Commonwealth, Australian Capital Territory and New South Wales Governments are working together to identify ways to achieve this.
The Department has undertaken a process of consultation in the Jervis Bay Territory with the aim of simplifying and coordinating services to ensure quality, timely, effective delivery in line with the Government's priorities of reducing red tape and improving service delivery and outcomes for Indigenous people.
Following the review of government services to Jervis Bay Territory, the Australian, NSW and ACT Governments have agreed that current arrangements should continue in the short term.
The NSW Government has also agreed to consider a transfer of state and local government-type services over the longer term where this would benefit the Jervis Bay Territory community.
Australian Government, ACT and NSW officials are continuing discussions to identify opportunities for a transfer of services, which they will also discuss with the Jervis Bay Territory community.
