Topic: Provision of Social Work Services to the Territories
Following lengthy discussions between the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development and the WA Department of Child Protection and Family Support (CPFS), the provision of social work services to residents of the Indian Ocean Territories will change from 1 July 2017.
Social work services will be managed by Indian Ocean Territories Health Services (IOTHS), with the recruitment process for a social worker commencing in July 2017.
In the interim, community members requiring the assistance of a Social Worker should contact IOTHS on (08) 9164 8333 or the Crisis Care Helpline on either 1800 199 008 (country free call) or (08) 9223 1111. Crisis Care operates 24 hours, 7 days per week and can also be accessed through the translating and interpreting service on 13 14 50.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Ms Valerie Coleman, our current Social Worker, and her predecessors from CPFS, for providing an invaluable service to the residents of the Territories.
Acting General Manager
