Next Gen Local Government Leader
The Next Gen Local Government Leader Award aims to recognise and celebrate young leaders who have successfully delivered innovative solutions to challenges faced by their local communities.
This Award category seeks entries from young leaders who would like to nominate themselves, or nominations from organisations or individuals seeking to recognise the efforts of a young leader who has demonstrated strong leadership skills to achieve positive outcomes within their community. We are looking for young local government leaders with experience in leading, designing, or delivering innovative and successful programs, projects, processes or practices.
To enter this award category, the nominee must:
- be aged 35 years or under at the time the application is made and work within the local government sector and
- have two years experience as a young professional
In addition to this, all nominations must be accompanied with:
- a 500-word summary outlining the details of the program or project lead by the young leader, and the positive impact their leadership has made to their local community and
- a letter of endorsement from the nominees Chief Executive Officer/General Manager
The winner of the Award will have the opportunity to attend the LG Professionals National Congress and Business Expo and the Australian Local Government Association National General Assembly, with travel, accommodation, and registration expenses covered by the Department of Infrastructure, Regional Development and Cities and LG Professionals Australia.
